Honoring Veterans on PTSD Awareness Day

by CME Press Room | Published June 27, 2026

WASHINGTON – The Coalition for Military Excellence (CME), a national organization dedicated to advocating for veterans and military excellence in the U.S. armed forces, issued the following statement in recognition of National PTSD Awareness Day:

"Today, on National PTSD Awareness Day, CME stands with every veteran and servicemember who has carried the invisible wounds of war. This day is a powerful and necessary acknowledgment that the cost of service does not end when a deployment does. According to the 2025-2026 National Health and Resilience in Veterans Study, 14.4% of U.S. veterans will experience PTSD in their lifetime, a sobering reminder that honoring those who serve means more than words. It means action.

"CME has long held that our commitment to veterans cannot be measured in ceremony alone. The men and women who answered the call to defend this nation deserve a government that meets them with the same courage and resolve they showed on the battlefield. The Trump administration's commitment to warfighter wellbeing, ensuring that mental health resources are prioritized, accessible, and free from bureaucratic obstruction, is exactly the kind of leadership our veterans have earned and our military culture demands.

"On this day, CME calls on Congress, the Pentagon, and every level of government to redouble their efforts to ensure no veteran fights alone after coming home. Awareness without investment is hollow. Our veterans gave everything. We owe them nothing less in return."

The Coalition for Military Excellence is a national organization dedicated to advocating for veterans and military excellence in the U.S. armed forces. CME is committed to combating policies and practices that undermine military excellence and threaten veteran support services. CME’s mission is to ensure the United States military remains focused on our nation's security through merit, strength, and excellence, while advocating for veterans and military.
