CME Applauds VA Processing Record-Breaking Disability Claims

WASHINGTON – The Coalition for Military Excellence (CME), a national organization dedicated to advocating for veterans and military excellence in the U.S. armed forces, issued the following statement applauding the VA for processing a record-breaking number of disability claims

CME applauds the Department of Veterans Affairs for processing a record-breaking number of disability claims this fiscal year, a clear sign of progress in meeting the needs of our nation’s veterans. The VA’s achievement in processing over 2.5 million claims, with nearly 1.3 million veterans and family members receiving approved benefits, demonstrates a renewed commitment to honoring the sacrifices of those who served. This success is especially meaningful given that nearly 64% of approved claims received a 70% or higher disability rating. This is a reflection of serious, often life-altering service-connected conditions.

We commend the efforts of VA leadership and personnel in deploying innovative tools such as the Automated Benefits Delivery System and prioritizing resources where they are needed most. These measures, along with the reinstatement of targeted overtime, have helped accelerate claims processing by nearly 18% and significantly reduce the backlog of overdue claims.

While challenges remain, this milestone is proof that when properly resourced and mission-focused, our institutions can rise to meet the needs of those who have given so much for our country. We urge the VA to continue building on this momentum and remain steadfast in delivering the benefits our veterans have earned through their service and sacrifice.
