CME Statement on Military Budget Proposal

The Coalition for Military Excellence (CME), a national organization dedicated to advocating for veterans and military excellence in the U.S. armed forces, issued the following statement concerning the recent military budget proposal:

"CME remains steadfast in its call for robust and sustained investment in our nation’s military. While cuts to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse have continued throughout the federal government, the military budget has remained steadfast, underscoring the importance of maintaining military strength in an increasingly volatile world. As the United States confronts evolving threats from both state and non-state actors, including conventional challenges from nations like China and Iran, as well as emerging risks in cyberspace and unstable regions, defense funding must remain a top priority.

“At a time when our strategic environment demands readiness and resilience, ensuring that the men and women of our armed forces are fully equipped and supported is not a luxury, but a necessity. While reform and accountability within the Department of Defense are critical, these efforts must complement, not replace, real investment in modernization and readiness.

“Key programs such as next-generation missile defense, unmanned systems, and naval fleet expansion are vital to preserving our global leadership and deterrence capabilities. America’s service members deserve the tools, training, and support necessary to succeed. CME urges leaders across the political spectrum to recognize that sustaining peace through strength requires clear, consistent commitment, both in word and in budget.”
