CME Applauds the Army for Fast-Tracking Weapons Development

by CME Press Room | Published September 18, 2025

WASHINGTON – The Coalition for Military Excellence (CME), a national organization dedicated to advocating for veterans and military excellence in the U.S. armed forces, issued the following statement after the Army announced the FUZE initiative to speed up weapons development.

CME applauds the Army for its bold and forward-thinking launch of the FUZE initiative. By committing $750 million annually to fast-track weapons development, the Army is demonstrating a clear commitment to military excellence, innovation, and battlefield superiority.

In an age of rapidly evolving threats, particularly from drones, FUZE represents exactly the kind of strategic foresight and operational agility our national defense demands. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll and the leadership team deserve high praise for recognizing that speed, adaptability, and direct soldier input must drive future readiness. FUZE’s focus on streamlining innovation, empowering small tech firms, and incorporating warfighter feedback exemplifies a merit-based, mission-driven excellence.

“The Army’s commitment to operational superiority through smarter, faster, and more cost-effective solutions works to uphold military strength, protect national security, and ensure those who serve are empowered with the best tools available. This is more than a funding program. It’s a cultural shift toward excellence. CME stands firmly behind the Army’s leadership in this effort and will continue to advocate for policies that prioritize readiness, innovation, and battlefield effectiveness,” said Amber Smith, CME Military Advisor.

The Coalition for Military Excellence (CME) is a national organization dedicated to advocating for veterans and military excellence in the U.S. armed forces. CME’s mission is to ensure the United States military remains focused on our nation's security through merit, strength, and excellence, while advocating for veteran rights, benefits, and resources.
