WASHINGTON – The Coalition for Military Excellence (CME), a national organization dedicated to advocating for veterans and military excellence in the U.S. armed forces, issued the following statement after the VA reallocated $45M toward supporting veterans:
CME strongly commends the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for its decisive action to redirect nearly $45 million annually from union-related activities back to where it belongs: directly supporting our nation's veterans. This move is a welcome and long-overdue course correction. For too long, taxpayer dollars intended to serve those who wore the uniform were instead diverted to fund union business, with skilled professionals taken away from patient care and critical services. The VA’s decision to prioritize veterans, rather than bureaucratic entitlements, is a powerful statement of renewed purpose and accountability.
Veterans deserve the very best this country has to offer – whether in health care, benefits, or support services. Every dollar and every hour reclaimed from union time and repurposed for veteran care strengthens the core mission of the VA and restores public trust in its operations.
“The VA reminded everyone that America’s obligation is to its veterans, not to special interests or entrenched union power. We applaud Secretary Doug Collins and the VA leadership for their courage, clarity, and commitment to veterans-first governance. CME will continue to support efforts that uphold the highest standards of national service and honor the sacrifice of those who defend our freedom,” said Amber Smith, CME Military Advisor.
The Coalition for Military Excellence (CME) is a national organization dedicated to advocating for veterans and military excellence in the U.S. armed forces. CME is committed to combating policies and practices that undermine military excellence and threaten veteran support services. CME’s mission is to ensure the United States military remains focused on our nation's security through merit, strength, and excellence, while advocating for veteran rights, benefits, and resources.
