The Coalition for Military Excellence (CME), a national organization dedicated to advocating for veterans and military excellence in the U.S. armed forces, issued the following statement through spokesperson Meaghan Mobbs after the VA announced the Office of Survivors Assistance (OSA) was being moved into the Secretary’s office:
"We applaud Secretary Doug Collins for his decisive leadership in restoring the Office of Survivors Assistance (OSA) to its rightful place within the Office of the Secretary at the Department of Veterans Affairs. This move reflects exactly the kind of bold, common-sense reform that America’s veterans and their families deserve.
“By cutting through layers of bureaucracy and establishing a dedicated survivor outreach team, Secretary Collins is delivering on a sacred promise: that the families of those who gave their lives in service to this nation will never be forgotten or neglected. His commitment to streamlining survivor benefits, upgrading outdated technology, and offering compassionate, white-glove service honors not only the intent of the 2008 law that created OSA but also the moral obligation we carry to those left behind.
“This is the kind of leadership that puts people before process and results before rhetoric. The Coalition for Military Excellence commends Secretary Collins for ensuring that the families of America’s fallen heroes receive the dignity, clarity, and care they have earned,” said Mobbs.
