CME Supports the Capture of Nicolás Maduro

WASHINGTON – The Coalition for Military Excellence (CME), a national organization dedicated to advocating for veterans and military excellence in the U.S. armed forces, issued the following statement after the United States military captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro:

“CME supports the decision by the United States to remove Nicolás Maduro from Venezuela as a matter of American security, regional stability, and justice for the Venezuelan people. For years, Maduro has operated as an illegitimate ruler, clinging to power after Venezuelans overwhelmingly voted for democratic change. His regime hollowed out institutions, repressed dissent, and drove millions to flee their homeland.

“From a security standpoint, this action was both justified and necessary. Maduro has been formally indicted in the United States for his role in a criminal conspiracy involving the trafficking of deadly narcotics that have fueled violence and addiction in American communities. Allowing a transnational criminal figure, who also serves as a strategic partner to U.S. adversaries, to operate with impunity undermines the rule of law and weakens our national defense.

“Removing Maduro from power eliminates a source of strength, funding, and legitimacy for hostile regimes that seek to challenge U.S. interests in the Western Hemisphere. It reinforces the principle that criminality, corruption, and authoritarianism are not shields against accountability.

“CME commends the brave, disciplined, and decisive action of the U.S. military service members and law enforcement. This action reflects the kind of military excellence CME advocates for: disciplined, mission-focused, and aligned with clear national interests. It demonstrates that American power, when used lawfully and purposefully, can defend our security while standing with people who seek freedom from oppression,” said Amber Smith, CME Military Advisor.
